Colour Healing
The use of colour is a truly holistic, non-invasive and powerful healing which dates back thousands of years; evidence of this can be found in ancient texts of India, China and Egypt. Colour is simply light of varying wavelengths, and, as such is a form of energy. This light energy affects all living cells and, as we all know, all living things are adversely affected by the absence of light. It is now a known scientific fact that everything has a vibration, that is to say that all things have their own vibration/frequency and that includes us! Sound, fragrance and thought waves are also vibrational - sound waves are really colour vibrations slowed down. During an electrical storm for example, first the lightening is seen then as the vibrations slows we hear the thunder. Our senses are so closely linked that many blind people are in fact able to distinguish colour through their fingertips. This is because every colour actually has its own unique texture and feeling.
Colour Healing involves the therapeutic use of colour and light as a means of harmonising mind, body and spirit. Colours are differentiated light, and scientific research shows that our physical and mental well-being are affected by our relationship with the colours (or lack of them) in our environment. For example, the depression resulting from lack of light in wintertime (seasonal affective disorder) can be corrected with the use of daylight stimulation bulbs and bright colours such as yellow and orange. High blood pressure responds to the use of the calming colour blue and the nervous system is stimulated by use of the colour red.
Colour Healing uses colour both to diagnose and to heal through the chakra system, which funnels the energy of light into the body at major collecting points, each resonating with a different colour. By realigning the chakras, balance is restored throughout the body’s systems, reducing stress and stimulating energy flow. A colour healer can use colour to balance energy, aid creativity and learning, release blocks and alleviate physical, mental and emotional conditions.
Colour encourages us to take personal responsibility for ourselves and our life and helps us to use the healing power within ourselves.

A Colour Healing An individual Colour Healing session lasts for 1 hour. First of all a colour analysis is completed to ascertain what colours are needed in order to achieve a holistic balance for you as an individual. This takes into account any health issues you may have, be these physical, mental or emotional. You would then sit or lie in a comfortable position fully clothed with materials of the required colours around you and be eased into a guided visualisation focussing on those colours. The visualisation also takes you through the 7 main chakras and their colours for a truly holistic healing experience. This is followed by a short period of silent meditation. There is then the opportunity to discuss what you have experinced. Due to the nature of Colour Healing it can be done very successfully in a group setting. I faciltate Colour Healing Meditation sessions regularly, in Musselburgh and in Edinburgh, with a maximum attendance of 6 people. This is also of 1 hour duration and consists of 10mins introduction and colour choice, 20 mins guided visualisation, 20mins silent meditation and 10mins for feedback and discussion at the end. The next Group Colour Healing - TBC Subject to consultation I will often incorporate Colour and Crystal Therapy
with a Reiki Healing or with an Indian Head Massage and this is a good
way to experience a holistic healing. As I get to know my clients and
their holistic needs I will plan a program of healing for the individual
incorporating these different aspects for optimum results. |

Whilst Colour Therapy has long acknowledged the connection between the nutritional values of food and their colours, it is only in recent years that this theory has been acknowledged by the world of science. Studies have shown that the individual health benefits of fruits and vegetables are indicated by their colours. Pigment analysis shows that colourful foods, aside from being visually appetising, are positively good for your health due to each colour being related to a different phyto-chemical with its own particular health benefits. These colour pigments are the real super nutrients and are as vital to our health and wellbeing as vitamins and minerals.
A diet of food from across the colour spectrum will privide nourishment on all levels - if it is fresh and organically grown. Foods that have been artificially coloured contain chemicals which effectively negate any goodness. The more colourful the food you eat the better for your health. Nutritional science, for example, has noted that the deeper green outer leaves of cabbage and lettuce are more nutritious than the lighter inner leaves. Also that red wine contains more phyto-chemicals than white wine and so has added health benefits.
